Gregory Starr: a long-time editor/writer/translator who has been editor-in-chief of several Tokyo-based magazines, including the Japanese-language edition of Premiere. He also headed the English-language editorial division of one of Japan’s largest book publishers. He now lives in Akiya, a village on the coast southwest of Tokyo.
Andrew Pothecary: a graphic designer based in Chofu, west Tokyo. He has worked on a variety of print design from magazines to books, the latter including publications on artisans and on single people’s small-apartment interiors in Japan for which he also took the photographs, as well as writing his own book, published in Japan, on the English alphabet.
Aki Ueda: a book packager and editor who has worked with multiple publishers in Japan and abroad – currently with her own company Pont Cerise. She has specialized in taking Japanese art and craft books to the English-speaking market. These have ranged from how-to books on popular crafts to major artist monographs.
